2002 -- RT'S
BIRTHDAY -- |
|
as teamtomko watches the ice which we cursed all season melt away
as the seasons change a sense of 'i can't believe we spent over
$3000 and only won $100' washes over us. a smarter team would have
put the money in the bank and spent the time learning to play the
tuba so at least they could say they learned something. teamtomko
has always relied on brute force solutions and so next year we will
throw three times as much money at the manitoba curling tour and
hope for the best.
hey it's my 23rd birthday today! i'll be taking photos all day
long so make sure you check out the bday23 picture set coming soon.
i can remember every moment of the past 30.2 million seconds of
my life.. 20-25 million were some good times. (btw, that's me playing
the piano background music.. i do weddings and asian birthday parties
also)

john rycroft gets the party started
if you guys cam email me some tasteless birthday
pictures, jokes, or pumpkins that would be great.

the winnipeg inter-club championships recently came to an explosive but
non violent climax as kuran captured a much needed crown as the best club team in the
city, otherwise known as the 'best of the worst' award.. this came as no surprise to
teamtomko having played kurn before and knowing what they are capable of... just check out
this shot and listen to the eerie calm
in krun's voice. if i was playing him in that final i would have dropped a stone on my
neck to force a medical timeout and perhaps a stalemate.. it is a small price to pay to be
able to say 'i didn't lose to kuran!'. |

curling has been getting a lot of play in the usa
thanks to salt lake city and bismark, hopefully this will bring more americans into the
game like bob labonte to kick some stones around (seen here
.. check out orest shooting with a cigarette in his mouth and bob monkey-jumping with a
smoke as well .. ah, those were the good days)
btw.. good shot colleen! |

i'm not sure how many of you caught the
'battle of the sexes' thing that aired just before ferby mullet-whapped team usa in the
semifinal.. but i was utterly baffled by what i saw.
when i first saw all the appliances on the ice i assumed that the men would curl and the
women would cook food, and the gender which made the best shot/meal would win. that would
have held my attention for the hour that the show was scheduled for. instead, they chose
to have the men actually play AGAINST the women!! wtf!? did the producers think that
people would watch such a massacre?.. i'm sure they captured a lot of the viewers who also
like watching large bulls trample and devour small blind children, but that only makes up
2% of the national audience (8% in quebec). i tried to watch, but after Georgia flashed a
hit and marilyn said 'ok, good shot' i hurled myself through a window hoping the 3-story
fall would knock me out until the end of the 'matchup'.
 |
as a last straw they didn't even pick the best (and most
sexy) female curler in canada to be on the womens team! i speak only of the extraordinary
stefanie richard of pei. (who, by the way, has filed several lawsuits against me for using
her image on this website) for shame tsn... for shame |
in other news it seems that our new friend pablo is really a cross-dresser named
kelly.. don't be afraid to be yourself k! but always clean up afterwards.
btw.. could you all head over here and give me a high rating .. thanks :) |

April 17, 2002 -- HAPPY
BIRTHDAY PABLO!-- |
| it seems that teamtomko.com has it's
fingers in many national and international pies.. a fan from the curling-deprived city of
montreal has made his thoughts known to the world by signing our guestbook. since he
didn't leave a name i contacted the curling clubs in montreal and asked if there was
anyone there who the community would describe as being 'off pudding' .. knowing that only
lunatics and the mentally retarded would enjoy this site enough to sign the guestbook. the
name i got back was pablo, and so all of us here at teamtomko.com (except for the mascot..
he is still trying to remove the airplane glue from his hair) wish pablo a very happy
birthday full of milk and 17 year old mexicans |

the seasons are changing, which means it's time to cut my
nails and sandpaper my elbows, but also that teamtomko is transforming into a golfing
powerhouse. much like curling, golf requires a sense of balance and strength.. as well as
a broad knowledge of swear words and furious facial expressions. just ask scott 'soggy
shoe' madman.. he is starting his own school of anger mismanagement to help people who
tend to foolishly let their rage seep slowly out of them. |
|
| scott, under the supervision
of our mascot, will teach you how to use your irascibility to your advantage by delivering
knockout punches to friends and family members, as well as using it to help in the
intimidation of senior citizens. after completion of his 3 week course, you will attain
the level of 'red anvil' in the art of lividity, and receive two passes from the city
which will absolve you from any manslaughter charges (passes expire june 10, 2002) |

only one word can sum up the weekend..
victrocity! not only did teamtomko win more money in 2 days then we did all season, but
tiger won the worlds, and ferby won the masters!
teamtomko picked up nearly $300 in the ft. garry mixed by becoming the c event finalists.
all the credit goes to my mixed team who, if i would have had them playing for me all
year, would have made me a rich man.
being a bit of an impulse buyer, i went out with the winnings and purchased a suit made of
pure gold..
i've added more hibbing pics latly so check them out here.. whoops, i mean here |

i just came back from what could have been
my last class ever! after 5 long years of cruel professors, aneurysm casing homework, and
dangerous laboratories i am finally finished!!
here then is the top five things i won't miss when i leave the university:
- fire alarms in rez at 2am (thanks first year punks!)
- working on 3 assignments, 2 labs, 1 essay, and studying for 5 mid-terms at once
- non english speaking professors
- the smell from the arts building
- buying textbooks for $150 each, and never opening them
however i will miss the endless supply of green tea from the rez cafeteria, and the
oodles of girls on campus.
how does any of this relate to curling? well this weekend teamtomko is hitting the mixed
spiel at the fort garry with a stacked team. i just wouldn't feel right ending the season
on my last stone in hibbing which lost us the game, albeit thorough an insane fluke. |

7, 2002 - Back From Hibbing
(god damm ice!) |
teamtomko started the year with a brillant
loss, and now the circle is complete. our final game in hibbing started at 11:45pm last
night, and finished at 2:15am this morning when some brave americans took 3 in the last
end to win by one. actually, they didn't take 3 so much as we crammed 3 down their
throats.
it has been said that you only learn by losing.. if that is the case then i think that
over the season we have achieved a Ph.D. in curlentology, with high honors, and a minor in
anger management. i am currently sorting through the pics from the weekend, and picking
out the ones which will get me sued. |

| so many things to do before i can leave
the country. get travel health insurance, find my birth certificate, hack into the police
database to delete my multiple manslaughter charges.. the list goes on and on. as the
season comes to a close, i reflect on the success we've had this year..
our success this year is due in large part to the mystical powers of several gods. i
would like to thank my exgirlfriend (pic 1) for giving me the all-powerful chinese lucky
bear which i still use each game to curry favor from the powers that be. i would also like
to thank my lead (pic 2) for the free drinks he gets us at our home curling club.. which i
turn around and sell the to homeless for 100% profit. The money from those sales is used
to purchase sacrificial (and ornamental) 7-11 employees which the curling gods seem to
enjoy the most (perhaps due to their high blood-slurpee content). finally, i would like to
thank my own hard work (pic 3) for putting together a team with the same unnatural drive
to win as me. |

| although the hibberites will have home
field advantage, i have a secret weapon. i recently bought the star trek season one dvd set and have been studying the moves and
tactics of captain picard. with my new starfleet skills i'll be able to throw a takeout at
warp 4, or transport my draws onto the button.. no one will suspect this strategic move so
i feel confident that teamtomko will fare well amongst the humans this weekend. at the
very least i will be able to give them a good rib-cracking with my klingon warrior training

look out usa, teamtomko is coming over to
take your money and any attractive daughters (or ugly sons) you might have lying around.
using some satellite photos i was able to secure using my
contacts in iran, i have plotted a course which should get us to hibbing in less than 3
hours.. assuming that our car can fly. i have also gotten some intelligence reports on our
competition.. our main concern is a skip named 'ernie falseneck' .. as seen here demonstrating his outstanding physique. Our best bet is
to say the yellow rocks are heating up and then when he turns his head to look, run like
hell.
Our first game is thursday at 8pm which means we'll have to leave the city by 10am. this
could be a problem since my body is programmed to wake up at 2pm on weekdays, 4pm on
weekends.
i've added some pics of the brier to the pics section, which can be found here. they are mostly pics of the brier mvp, john 'cry like
a girl' morris. |

congratulations to team canada in winning the mens
micro-world championships this weekend! as you can see by clicking the picture to the
left, hamblins were winning prestigious titles at home as well as abroad.
while i was watching the final i fell into a deep sleep in which i dreamt of talking
earlobes. what a nightmare! if you didn't like what they were saying you couldn't even
cover your ears to shut them out! CUZ THEY ARE A PART OF YOUR EARS!! i was suddenly awoken
by the crowds reaction to this classic junior final shot .. i don't know why sweden nearly
hogged their last stone, but then canada came through with this shot |

i have finally updated the pics with the ones from the mixed provincials. i have also
added my pics from my summer trip to toronto here.
so mike mcewen wins his 14th provincial title in 4 years. it was interesting to note that
of the top 5 teams at the procinvials, 3 of them were former junior teams (us, grassie,
mcewen). this should come as a sign that it's time for all teams over 30 years old to stop
playing because they are going to be outclassed in the next few years as more top notch
juniors come of age and start laying the smackdown. click here
to see an artists rendition of the young curling in the province beating the older ones. |
